East shore
Kapaa, Wailua, Lihue are quaint towns all located on the Royal
Coconut Coast. Kapaa is a funky little surf town with numerous surfing
beaches, bike trails, quaint shops, and restaurants.
Wailua is where the ancient Hawaiians chose to live. Here there are
hundreds of swaying palms still standing from ancient times. The area is
steeped in folklore and history and is the midpoint of the island. The
Wailua River, "Sleeping Giant" mountain range, and kid safe
Lydgate Park are located here.
Lihue is the home of the famous Kalapaki Bay. It is also where the
airport is located, and the journey for helicopter rides begin. There
are many restaurants, shopping areas, beaches, parks, waterfalls, and
sites of historical importance to explore while staying on the Royal
Coconut Coast.
