Dear Joyce,

With internet travel sites growing to mega proportions, many of you might ask - What are the benefits of using a travel professional compared to the internet? The internet can be a powerful resource tool. For those of you that like to moonlight as travel advisors and plan your family's getaways this can be fun and a way to let your creative juices flow. I say that if it makes you happy - Go for it! At some point, however, before reserving your dream vacation I strongly advise you to consult a destination travel professional. Destination specialists have been to their areas of expertise, have seen the properties they recommend, have dined at the local restaurants, and taken the tours. They know whether the so called "fabulous white sand beach" you have found on the internet really exists.

A professional travel consultant knows where to look for value, what questions to ask, and is trained to guide clients through the entire process of planning a trip. Professional travel consultants take classes to increase their product knowledge, participate in seminars, and are indeed specialists. Travel is very detailed and there are many facets involved in planning a vacation in order to make it flawless for travelers. It might appear easy, but once you call it your profession, you will find out very quickly that it is very involved.

Next time you speak with your travel professional I suggest you let them know exactly what you expect from a vacation and then let their creative juices flow. Isn't this one of the main reasons you contact a travel professional - for their expert advice?

    Ask Endora

    Dear Endora,

My wife wants to know if we can bring our pet with us on vacation. Are there any places (Hawaii, Mexico, or somewhere tropical) that are pet friendly?

    Dear Rich,

Dear Rich, You can bring your pet on vacation to Hawaii if it has all shots and a chip. However, I am not sure where you would stay since no vacation rentals, where I would stay, allow pets. I have a small pet with a wardrobe which I don't even take on vacation. Would not take a pet to Mexico at all...European vacations, yes possibly, but again it would be terrible to try checking into accommodations only to find out that Fido is not allowed.

Featured Property - Waikiki Beach Hotel

Rated by Travel + Leisure as one of the top 50 Most Affordable Beach Resorts in the World, the Waikiki Beach Hotel offers guests chic-fun and affordable accommodations right at Waikiki Beach. Room décor is Hawaiiana (room choices are pineapple yellow or lava red) and the resort is one of the best values in Waikiki. The property recently went through a $30 million renovation and has been well received by visitors and travel experts alike. The Tiki Bar and Grill overlooks famous Waikiki Beach. The pool is located on the same level and is where the hotel's complimentary "Breakfast on the Beach" is served daily. Be ready to have a blast next time you visit Waikiki. The entire beach walk has undergone extensive refurbishing and beckons travelers back to the famous beach where Hawaiian tourism first began.

    Tantalizing Tahiti

The thought of Tahiti invokes visions of crystal clear reef protected lagoons with fairytale colors of jade green and luminous turquoise, so gorgeous that you will want to pinch yourself to see if you are dreaming. A land where time seems to stand still and there are truly "no worries." Each day is better than the last. A culture that wants you to experience the land they call home.
