Ask Endora

Dear Endora,

With all the changes with the airlines I want to make sure I arrive early at the airport, how much time prior to my flight should I allow for check in at the airport?

Erik - Boston

Dear Erik,

If you want to guarantee you don't miss your flight the first thing to do is make sure you contact the airlines 24 hours prior to your flight - this is IMPERATIVE! Especially with all the changes in flights we are now seeing. Once you know the flight times it is a rule of thumb to arrive 90 minutes prior to your flight for DOMESTIC travel, and two to three hours prior to your flight for INTERNATIONAL travel. The various airlines have different rules that change all the time so it is always best to check ahead to make sure you have the most up to date information.

Dear Endora,

I am traveling to Europe this fall and want to have a cell phone to call the US. What is the best cell phone program in Europe?

Katy - Illinois

Dear Stephen,

It will depend on where you are traveling to as there are a couple of options. If you will be in the UK then www.mobalrental.com has a great program where you can receive calls for free, but when you are traveling to other countries in Western and Eastern Europe this might not be the best solution. I have found that you can use a phone from Verizon (which is part of Vodafone - the largest cell company in Europe) for a flat $10 shipping fee and the rate p/minute is about $.75 which is far less expensive than any of the other companies I have seen out there. Just call your local Verizon company and ask about their global phone program, http://www.vzwrentinternational.com.

Good luck and have fun,

Dear Endora,

I am ready to plan my first cruise - what destination do your recommend for a 30 something traveler that wants to be inspired to cruise again?

Thomas - Nebraska

Dear Thomas,

Well my dear boy in my opinion anything in the Caribbean would be a fun first cruise for your age bracket. But you must not just book any cruise to the Caribbean you would probably be best with a cruise line that is larger and caters to a younger or more diversified crowd - otherwise, you might be disappointed. It is always best to have a travel professional help plan the cruise for you since there really is a lot of information to know about when booking the perfect cruise.

Have fun wherever you decide to go and I am sure you will have a swell time!
