Ikal del Mar

Ikal del Mar is an unspoiled tropical oasis, set directly on a secluded beach just three miles from the exciting town of Playa del Carmen. This intimate sea-side resort boasts just 29 luxury villas that were carefully constructed from natural wood and stones indigenous to the region.

Each villa has a private outdoor terrace complete with plunge pool, chaise lounge, dining table, handmade crochet hammock and outdoor shower.

All villas are air conditioned and have a CD/DVD player, flat screen TV's, a large separate spacious bathroom with standing shower, his and hers separate sinks and large closets. All beds feature Egyptian cotton sheets, duvet covers and glorious down pillows.

In keeping with its serene setting, the resort will allow no motorized vehicles on the property. At night, artificial lighting will not dim star-filled skies. Instead guests will find their beach paths and the resort walkways ensconced with natural torches, which adds to the romantic ambience of this special property.

Paths and walkways carefully meander throughout the jungle, but carefully avoid the old growth forests. Younger trees are allowed to grow within the paths, further reinforcing the resort managements philosophy to respect the forest and blend harmoniously and seamlessly with its natural ambience.

The full service spa at Ikal del Mar - a sanctuary for the senses - offers its guests a holistic experience in the Riviera Mayan tropical spa setting. The Spa offers a steam room, jacuzzi, swiss showers with adjustable water pressure, and individual treatment areas. There is also a sea-side spa area for Temazcal bath, massages, facials, treatments and Yoga.

Note - this is one of the most sought after properties on the Maya Riviera to get married at - the wedding ceremonies are lovely and provide for a private setting. As the resort is rather small, it offers wedding couples and guests a truly romantic experience.

"The Tides we really liked. It is beautiful!! Really nice service. You were right. It is by far the nicest place we have ever been. We were a little out of our comfort zone though-you know, a little out of our element. We relaxed on the beach all day, swam and snorkeled. It is heaven on earth.
