"We just arrived back home from the honeymoon. I just want to say thank you so much for really "hooking us up". Your condo was perfect. The sunset off the patio, the location... over looking Hanalei Bay. The little pool, right there...the whole resort....incredible....the extremely fresh pineapple, the Mai Tai's.....the massage poolside....We absolutely LOVED it. Kauai is the most romantic of all the islands....(we did get over to the Big Island, but didn't have time for Maui and Oahu, which we would liked to visit, each for a day) Those will be next time. " - Lynda Moyer, Pennsylvania, 2007-04-03
"We really enjoyed your condo. It feels like home! Our good friends were on Kauai at the same time as us and they stayed at the Best Western at Coconut Plantation. One night we had them up for a steak dinner. They loved your place. Imagine walking right out the slider, looking at Hanalei Bay, and just to the right, new BBQs! " - Kevin Folsom, California, 2007-04-03
"Dear Joyce- My wife Paula and I just returned from our semi-annual vacation to Kauai. Once again it was another "fantasy" vacation in Paradise! Thank you so much for making it an effortless trip with your helpful arrangements. We never tire of arriving on Kauai and making the drive to Hanalei Bay Resort. It always seems like a dream book as we pull up to the lobby and check in. The condo you arranged for us this year was just "picture perfect" in everyway and made our 30th anniversary celebration that much more memorable! We are already anxiously awaiting our trip in 2008. We will be contacting you in October of next year. Until then....... Aloha and Mahalo Mike and Paula Fallis Fair Oaks, Ca. " - Mike Fallis, Fair Oaks, California, 2007-04-03
"We've been so busy since our return from Kauai. Your condo is wonderful. The view of the Bay at sunset is spectacular. The pool and hot tub are designed so beautifully with the rocks and waterfalls. The unit is spacious and has such tasteful furniture. My kids loved the large flat screen TV. We had a great time. Thanks, Murray -- Murray Silverman, Ph.D. College of Business San Francisco State University " - Murray Silverman, San Francisco, California, 2007-04-03
"Hi Vicki, We're just back from our honeymoon. It was truly fabulous. Everything was perfect. We loved our room at the Hanalei Bat resort (what a view!) and the area in general. Also loved the Maui Prince and all the amenities there. Thanks for the $25 credit! We applied it to snorkel gear rental, which got good use. We wandered around the other resorts in Wailea and were impressed. The Grand Wailea is absolutely unbelievable! However, in the end, we're glad we were at the Maui Prince. Grand Wailea is almost too much--why bother flying all the way to Maui for a resort you'll never want to leave? (Converseley, if you do other activities in Maui you won't get your money's worth out of that amazing hotel...) So anyway, thanks for putting the perfect trip together for us. We couldn't have picked any better properties, and didn't have the energy to try amidst all the other wedding planning. Using your services was one of the best wedding decisions we made. Hawaii is really spectacular, and I think it was only the first of our trips there! Thanks again, Alicia and Willis " - Alicia and Willis, Fremont, California, 2007-04-03
"Hi Joyce, We’re back from Hawaii and just wanted to let you know what a great time we had! We followed a lot of your recommendations and it really helped to make our vacation even more special. We all went on the Will Squyres helicopter ride and really enjoyed it. The ride was very smooth and the weather was just perfect. My family and I did the hike at Ke e Beach…we went the 2 miles to the beautiful beach. What a hike that was! The views were just beautiful from there. We also went to Queen Emma’s Bath (another hike over the lava rocks) and really enjoyed that. I have attached some pictures of our vacation. My parent’s loved their condo at Hanalei Bay, the view was fantastic. I realize now that this trip may have been a little too much for them. I forgot just how long the flight was and it really took a lot out of them. They can’t walk very much so they did not get to enjoy as much of the sights as they might have. I did take them up the Waimea Canyon and they loved that. Our condo was perfect at Hanalei Bay as well and if we ever go back we will stay in unit 7302! Mike and Ryan took the Annini Boat charters out of Annini Beach for the snorkel trip and loved it. Ali and I were just too tired to go with them. The vacation was non stop and I just couldn’t keep up! I will be in touch with you again to help plan our next vacation. Thanks again. Fondly, Robin " - Robin Deitche, New Jersey, 2007-04-09
"Joyce: Thank you for including us in your subscriber list. I feel bad because I didn't send a thank you for our stay at your condo in Kauai. We had a wonderful time and the accommodations were great. So much so that we now own a time share at Hanalei Bay Resort, purchasing a two bedroom while we were there. We loved your place and we thank you for allowing us to be guests. Sincerely, Max" - Max Kuentz, Arlington, Texas, 2007-04-09
"Vicki, I just wanted to thank you for arranging a wonderful room for us at Hanalei Bay resort. We took the room number down and hope to return there again someday. It was perfect for us with the microwave and refrigerator. The view was spectacular. In fact, we hardly ever wanted to leave our lanai. We will certainly use your services in the future. You are now a permanent fixture in our E-mail address book. Sincerely, Lisa and Ken Bowers " - Lisa and Ken Bowers, Alamo, California, 2007-04-03
"I visited your hotel in January with my grandmother. I have been meaning to thank your staff for our wonderful stay at your hotel. Travelling with someone at her age can be difficult, but everyone worked so hard to accomodate our needs and to really make our stay a pleasant one. Our very many phone calls to the front desk for dinner reservations, shuttles to and from our car, room changes, questions, etc. were always met with much enthusiasm and willingness to help. I just wanted to thank you all again for making her first trip to Hawaii so very pleasant and memorable. Sincerely-Mindy Routon" - Mindy Routon, California, 2007-04-03
"My husband and I stayed here for ten days in January and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The condo is welcoming, well maintained and worry free. The owner has decorated with good taste (Hawaiiana) and furniture and accessories are well chosen, well placed and charming...the hula girl, though darling, was slightly annoying but you can just put her away if she bothers you. The furniture is very nice and the bed comfy. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics. We mostly ate out but if you are there with family or just want to stay in for dinner, there is adequate equipment for cooking. The appliances were new and the kitchen was very attractive. The washer and dryer also were new. This was my first trip to Hawaii and I was afraid there would be all kinds of creepy crawly things but we only saw a couple of ants and one gecko which was really cute. We were on the ground floor and even so the view from the condo was magnificent...mountains, ocean, beautiful landscaping...I couldn't have asked for more. There was a pool just outside our back door and another spectacular pool a three minute walk away...and of course there's the beach. Many times I just sat on the patio and admired the paradise in which I found myself and thanked God for all the blessings He continually puts in my path. Joyce, at Incredible Journey, was very helpful and delightful to work with, so feel at ease with trusting what she says. It's a little unnerving putting faith in a stranger, but she was completely forthcoming, honest and a fountain of good information. She said we would have an incredible and unforgettable journey and we did!! Margaret " - Margaret White, Saint Louis, Missouri, 2007-04-09
"Hanalei Bay Resort was amazing!!! Our view of the mountains & ocean was gorgeous. We could even see the waterfalls from our lanai!! The units were exceptionally furnished & spacious. It was so nice to have the pool, hot tub, concierge, etc. to use. The Bali Hai Restaurant had a better view, better food & prices than the Princeville Resort. I appreciate that you took the time to send the packet of sight-seeing, restaurant, & shopping recommendations. This was very helpful. This place is absolute paradise!!! " - Cortney Houston, Wyoming, 2007-04-09
"Just a quick note to tell you that we had a great time in Hawaii. The condo, 7105/7106, was great and it was in the best shape of any of them we had rented in the past six years. Thanks again for your help, talk to you in the fall. Andy Rosenthal " - Andy Rosenthal, Maine, 2007-04-09
"Aloha Joyce! Thank you for 'setting us up' with such a wonderful place! We love everything about your condo (7105/7106)....and have even purchased a similar door beaded 'screen' to us back home. :) Dave has used your Island guide as a bible for things to do, and so far all are fantastic. Of course it has all been beaches so far!! The weather has been great. Yesterday was very windy and blew us off the beach, but still plenty to keep us busy. Today we'll head to the kayaking adventure. Fresh fish at Dolphin's fish market has kept us in great fish and soup for days now. Thanks again for a fantastic last minute trip. We hope it is the first of many to your darling condo. Mahalo !! Mary Ann & Dave" - Dave Norcott, Los Angeles, 2007-04-09
"Hi Joyce, We loved staying at your place. It was fabulous. Check out some of the photos we took from the room. We hope to stay in your condo again within a year. Aloha, Sheri Zampelli " - Sheri Zampelli, Long Beach, California, 2007-04-09
"It was two long summers ago, but I remember so well how wonderful and effortless Joyce made our Kauai (and Big Island) vacation planning! Look no further than Hanalei Bay Resort if you want casual, laid back ambiance in the lush setting of the North Shore. You're the BEST, Joyce, and we'll be back to *you!* for Spring Break, 2008. Aloha and many thanks for all you did for us, Deborra & Luke Hill " - Deborra Hill and son, Luke, Washington State, 2007-09-27
"Hi Vicki, Weloved Hawaii and Hanalei Bay and the Hanalei Bay Resort. It fit our needs perfectly and we wish we had another week on Kauai because there wasn't enough time to see and do everything that was available so we'll have to go back sometime. We found the rooms perfect for our needs, we could eat out once a day and the kitchenette was adequate for breakfast and lunch since we didn't want to have to eat 3 meals per day out, with 5 of us that would have been quite expensive. Kauai is so beautiful that we hope to go back someday, thanks for your help, Sheryl " - Sheryl, California, 2007-04-09
"Aloha Joyce, First of all we want to tell you what a Wonderful vacation we've had and how beautiful the unit is. We've truly felt like we were staying in a home and not a "rental." Thanks again so much for the use of your 'home!' Marla Zylstra and family (7105/6) " - Marla Zylstra, Washington, 2007-04-09
"Joyce, We truly enjoyed our stay in the condominium at Hanalei Bay Resort. We had two families with five kids ranging in ages 9-13. Between the upstairs loft with two beds and couches in the living room, there was plenty of sleeping area. As well, the bedrooms each with king size beds, fan, air conditioning and general décor was perfect for each couple. The patio and view of the Bay was absolutely incredible!! The kids also put the Resort Pool to good use and when we weren’t watching the sunset from our patio, we were watching it from the Princeville Resort Beach, which was a five minute walk away. Thanks again. Joe " - Joe Euphrat, San Francisco, California, 2007-04-09
"We rented 9202 and 9201 with another couple in late February. The condo was very nice and the view was stupendous. The grounds are also beautiful and well manicured. One of the four broke his ankle on the first day of our stay (not at the condo) and required surgery and an overnight at the hospital. The condo staff were very helpful in providing him golf cart rides to and from the condo and in helping him get up and down the stairs. He felt it was a wonderful place to be laid up for three days! The rest of us enjoyed the otherwise relaxed stay and would love to return." - Phillip Cushman, Gainesville, Florida, 2008-03-12
"Our family had a wonderful time on our vacation in Kauai. Both of our condo's were great. The three bedroom condo was very well equiped and very beautiful with a great view (4301/2/3) Thanks for the orchid you sent, it looks like it will have lots of blooms. Betty and Lynn Frost " - Betty Frost, Oregon, 2008-03-30
"Hi Joyce, We got home from Kauai late last night. The trip was wonderful and I wanted to thank you for helping us with our plans. The condo at HBR was fabulous - we will definitely return to that unit someday. Our kids loved the pool at the Hyatt - it was the highlight of the trip for them. We look forward to working with you again sometime - our next big trip is hopefully a European vacation in Summer of 2008. Thanks again, Carol Vaughn & family " - Carol Vaughn, Applegate, CA, 2008-03-30
"I wanted to let you know that we were very happy with unit 930456 at Hanalei Bay Resort. It is beautiful inside and out. The views were amazing. I have attached a document that has some photos from the Lanai. Can you let me know the availability in December? Also, can you email me photos of the inside of the condo as I have a friend that may be interested in renting it. Thanks mike " - Michael Deavitt, San Diego, CA, 2008-03-30
"We had a fantastic time on Kauai at HBR unit 910456. Thanks for your suggestions, Chip" - Chip, California, 2008-03-30
"Dear Joyce, We had a fantastic time at your place in Kauai. The weather was perfect! The location is perfect! The view is fabulous! I took lots of pictures of rainbows from your lanai as well as picture postcard perfect shots all around the resort. Your unit, 7105/7106, was very well equiped with everything we needed for the kitchen and we really enjoyed the views of the bay and the mountains. We looked all around the Princeville area while we were there to check out other places to stay and none came close to Hanalei Bay Resort. It is so convenient to all of the beaches, the grocery store, the sights on the north shore, and it has the best views! I really want to go back. I also enjoyed the kitties that came by to visit us. I am a cat lover and have three of my own. I hate going on vacation and leaving them home so it really helped to have kitty visitors. We took a helicopter ride with Blue Hawaiian on the Eco-Star helicopter and really enjoyed that. We had taken a helicopter ride on the Big Island a few years ago with Papillon and the visibility was not as good out their windows. The Eco-Star helicopter has very large windows. We also went to the Kilauea Lighthouse which was beautiful, and to Queen's Bath, Wailua Falls, Tunnels, Hideaways, Ke'e and Pu'u Poa beaches. The guys went waterskiing on the Wailua river, did a catamaran ride with Na Pali Catamaran, and ziplining with Princeville Ranch Adventures. We also did a little of the Kalalau Trail. We did not make it to Hanakapi'ai beach, but we were close. A lady on the trail said we had 20 more minutes to go and we'd be there. Unfortunately we had to turn around to meet up with our son on Ke'e beach. That hike is brutal, but so worth it. I took some really great pictures that I am going to frame from that hike. We want to go back and make it to the beach next time. When we had been in Kauai about ten years ago we had discovered an artist at the Shipstore Gallery in Coconut Marketplace who has done many paintings of ships in the Hawaiian islands and other parts of the world from the 1700s-1800s. We admired his work ten years ago and talked about going back to purchase one of his works since they are only available from Shipstore Gallery even though the artist lives in Buffalo, NY. He has paintings in the maritime museum in Annapolis, MD but he only sells to the public through that store in Kapaa. Well, we realized our dream and purchased two of his works including one that shows two British ships rounding the Na Pali coast after charting Hanalei Bay in 1837. That glicee will hang in our dining room and always remind us of your beautiful island in paradise! Thank you for sharing your place with us! Sincerely, Karen Kinsley " - Karen Kinsley, Minnesota, 2008-03-30
"Aloha Joyce, We had an "incredible" vacation. It had been 10 years since the last time we had been there when my parents were celebrating their 50th and our 30th and it seem not to have changed at all. It was sooo nice. The weather was great over all as I know Kauai is known for all its rain. Our condo was really nice. The furnishing were really nice. It was a really great location. Being able to walk right out to the lanai and see the beautiful views was fantastic with the morning rainbows, waterfalls off to the left, the bay with all the sail boats and the beautiful sunsets. Also all of our little visitors, the nene birds ,the roosters and all the small little birds was really nice. There was no one around us, very private. The Hanelei bay resort is a beautiful place. The Princeville Hotel was being renovated by the new owners and they started with the pool that we could see from our room. It was a little noisy with tractors and jack hammers. I think the only stress full thing was the airports with the luggage restrictions. Everyone was having problems with weight including us. When we take another trip you will be hearing from us. Thanks again. Mahalo, Lynn Arrasmith " - Lynn, California, 2009-02-03
"As for the lodging arrangements, all was great. Hanalei Bay Resort was great as well. The grounds were well maintained and service was laid-back but also attentive. Overall, we had a great trip. Thanks again for your excellent service and help. " - Karen Putnal, Florida, 2008-03-30
"Anyway we had a great time, the Hyatt was great and we enjoyed the condo as well. We would not hesitate to stay in the same place again next time we go. Thanks, George " - George, California, 2009-02-03
"Hi Vickie, We had a wonderful time at Hanalei Bay Resort unit 7301/7302. The condo was lovely and of course you can't even discribe how beautiful the view is. We arrived late on Monday night and couldn't see the view until morning. Everyone kept saying "Oh my gosh! How beautiful!!!" Our son's wedding was gorgeus with that same view in all the photos. Thank you for all your help, and I will certainly contact you again when the occasion arises. Sincerely, Kathi Lewis " - Kathi Lewis, Knightsen, CA, 2008-03-30
"Hi Vicki, The view at Hanalei Bay Resort is spectacular. We loved it and did not want to leave. All in all we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hanalei Bay Resort. The food at Bali Hai was great. I would definitely recommend HBR. I would definitely stay there again if I could get unit 930456. Thanks for all your help and recommendations. We checked out 8 beaches while we were there. We also went and checked out the Hyatt which was nice but I'm still glad we stayed at HBR. If we had 3 extra nights on the island it would have been nice to go to the Hyatt. Thanks again and I will remember you if I'm lucky enough to go back to Hawaii an eighth time. Aloha, Patricia Atkins " - Patricial Atkins, Spring, TX, 2008-03-30
"Hello Joyce, We had a great time in Kauai. The unit was very well maintained and everything looked great (furniture, linens, plates, glassware, etc.). The restaurant and lounge at the resort, which we have enjoyed in the past, were closed for renovation. But the view from the room more that made up for these inconveniences. It was absolutely breathtaking!!! Thank you for all your help in setting this up. Maria " - Maria, Texas, 2009-02-03
"Hi Joyce, I wanted to thank you for the gift you sent and also for all the things you do at your beautiful condo, Hanalei Bay Resort unit 7105/7106. We had a wonderful time. This year the service at the resort was dramatically improved. When we arrived, a bellman was available before I could walk to the curb. After the Princeville luau, we called on the phone to get a lift and they arrived in 5 minutes. And, when we left, they sent two bellman to load our van within 10 minutes. The staff seemed friendlier too. Take care, Kevin " - Kevin Folsom, Folsom, CA, 2008-03-30
"Hi Vicki, We returned today from a wonderful week on Kauai. We had wonderful weather and a great time. Our unit 9202 at HBR was spectacular with incredible views of the ocean and Hanalei Bay. Everything was perfect. Best overall evening meal was at The Postcards Cafe in Hanalei. The luau at Smith's Tropical resort was very well done. Thank you again for your assistance with the arrangements. Regards, Jim " - Jim Snow, Los Angeles, CA, 2008-03-30
"Aloha Joyce, We've just returned from Kauai and just a note of thanks for your help in our accommodations at Hanalai Bay Resorts. The Condo, 930456 was magnificent, the best we have ever stayed at to date! We will need to book our 2009 Vacation with you early so we can get that unit again. Everything was top notch. We had the best of weather and the best vaca to date. Thanks again and will be in touch soon Aloha and mahalo Gerry" - Gerry Schreiber, Hicksville, NY, 2008-03-30
"Hi Vicki, Enjoyed our stay again this year. Hanalei Bay's condo was beautiful. Amazily furnished. We're actually glad to have stayed in both places. Now we are thinking of possibly taking a trip to Italy/France or just Italy next year. You mentioned somebody other than youself specializes in Europe. We'll miss working with you on that trip if we do decide to go. We will certainly be in touch for our future Hawaii trips. Do you specialize in other destinations? Let us know. Again, thanks for everything!! Lisa and Ken Bowers " - Lisa Bowers, Alamo, CA, 2008-03-30
"Hi Joyce, Just received the beautiful basket today. you are way too nice. Thank you so much . We will enjoy it the rest of the summer. I think we are all depressed to be home. Hawaii was fantastic. the trip was perfectly planned, you did an incredible job. Kauai was our favorite,as you had predicted. Staying on the north shore in your amazing condo, unit 71056, it was the right choice for us.It's hard to believe that there is so much beauty around each corner. We were so happy to be near all the activities and beaches the north shore had to offer. We could not imagine having to deal with all the traffic on the east and south shore. We loved the funkiness of Hanelei. A week was just perfect though we could have stayed longer. We did go on a catamaran ride up the coast which was a treat. The Hyatt was the perfect ending. The pools were incredible like you said.A week there wouldnt have been what we were looking for but two days were perfect. They have the best service at the Hyatt. We had time to drive up to see the canyon and the Napali coast. I don't know how I would have been able to plan a trip like this without you.It would have been a very different trip You had amazing insight into what we wanted. We really saw a variety of hawaii and stayed at so many different types of accomodation that most people never get to experience. We were so lucky to find you on line.I can't thank you enough for our incredible trip. YOU ARE THE BEST! Wendie , Steve, Matt and Danny Zekowski " - Wendie Zekowski, Minnesota, 2008-03-30
"We had a wonderful time in Kauai! Thank you so much. Hanalei Bay Resort was perfect, as was the entire island of Kauai. The unit we stayed in was just great for us I couldn't imagine any nicer spot to vacation at in Hawaii! Thanks so much!" - Helen Jenko, Lake Forest, IL, 2008-05-29
"Paula, We had a wonderful time in spite of a bit of rain. It was workable and we were able to get around in between showers. The condo, unit 9323/9324 was probably the finest we have ever stayed in anywhere in Hawaii. Roomy, good furniture, great beds and the view worth a billion. Would definitely rent it again maybe next year and bring along a couple of friends as well. I'll be in touch in the near future. Thanks for your fine service. Aloha! Archie Meade " - Archie Meade, Sonoma, CA, 2008-05-29
"Joyce: You are free to use the messege below for other guests. The condo you so kindly suggested to us was the perfect getaway! My family and I loved being woken up to a gorgeous view every morning by wild roosters crowing. The condo was cozy and well furnished, and the location was simply great! We paid less than half the price of Princeville Resort, yet were able to share with it an intimate beach on Hanalei Bay. We also had our own fully equipped kitchen and laundry machines. Guests can go snorkeling at the beach, enjoy a game of tennis, or simply take a stroll along paths lined with tropical plants. The resort’s open-air restaurant served delicious breakfasts. The staff was always friendly and attentive. We’d love to come back anytime! Thanks again. Bing " - Bing Lu, Spring, TX, 2008-03-30
"Just wanted to let you know we had an awesome time on Kauai. The HBR condo, unit 430123, was fantastic. I’m pretty sure we want to return again next Summer. I will let you know what dates we want to look at in the near future. thanks, -Joe " - Joe Werwage, Carlsbad, CA, 2008-03-30
"Wow! Hawaii was great. All of your recommendations were spot on. We took your write-up with us every where we went. It was really good, and I hope you can keep expanding on it! It was very helpful! Ok. The condo, unit 7105/7106 was really fantastic. The view and the sunsets were stunning. We made a point to be in the condo every night just to watch the sunset! You were right about the amenities of the resort - it was very nice to have access to the pool, the jacuzzi, the restaurant, the beach rentals - everything. We have decided that if we return, we will rent the same unit! We went all over the island, and again you were right about the North shore. We thought it was the best place on the island. The streets were not as busy, the beaches were more frequent and I would say the most beautiful beaches on the island. There is so much to do within 30 minutes of the hotel!! Thanks again for all of your recommendations, and all of the questions you answered. All in all, your suggestions were very good. I took your 5 page write-up everywhere with us! Thanks! " - Rhett Dotson, Houston, TX, 2008-05-29
"I just wanted to thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful condo, unit 3303/3304. My husband, daughter and I had a terrific time. I loved the view from the balcony. I took loads of sunrise and sunset pictures but they really don't capture how stunning this sight really is. I will miss the roasters in the morning - they were charming. My daughter enjoyed playing the piano in the loft. The front desk, activity desk and restaurant service was friendly and courteous. We loved hiking the Na Pali coast and to Queens' Bath and swam in most of the Northern beaches - the snorkeling was exciting and colorful. My daughter took her first surfing lessons and we have great photos of her smiling face!! We had delicious dinners at Bali Hai and at La Cascata and Postcards. After seeing the beautiful golf facilities at Princeville I'm determined to take up golfing so that I can play next time we visit. Thank you again Kathy, Don and Danielle Miller, NJ USA " - Kathy Miller, New Jersey, 2008-03-30
"Hi Joyce. Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time again. Unit 4204/4205, our favorite unit, was just great and we are getting very spoiled. Thanks for your help and hope to be back some day soon. Dave Guido " - Dave Guido, Marysville, CA, 2008-03-30
"Joyce, We received your postcard. We absolutely loved the vacation rental. It was perfect. The size and layout worked great for our group of five. And of course, the view was outstanding. We stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort last year too and just love sitting on the lanai overlooking Hanalei Bay. I really can’t think of a single thing we needed that wasn’t in the unit. Thanks for your help and we’ll keep you in mind if we decide to return next year. Thanks! " - Crystal, Colorado, 2009-02-03
"Well, our time with our friends was wonderful. The condo and the property had a spectacular view and it was decorated beautifully. The staff on property were very pleasant. " - Helen, Washington, 2009-02-03
"Joyce, First of all, my apologies for not getting back to you sooner. We absolutely loved our vacation condo in Kauai, units # 9204/9205/9206! We couldn’t think of a better place to stay. View, accommodations, etc. Hopefully one of these days we can return to Kauai, we absolutely fell in love with it. Thanks, Barbara Bainter " - Barbara, Washington, 2009-02-03
"Dear Joyce, Thank you for the note you left for us at the Marriott and thank you for the nice postcard I found in the mail when I arrived home Monday. My sons and I agreed that this vacation was our best family vacation ever. I am a widow and have raised my sons on my own since they were 6 and 10. This summer I turned 50 in May and my oldest turned 21, which meant that in 2008 he had spent more than half his life with a single parent and has turned out great. So this trip was very significant for us, and I have been saving for some time in anticipation of it. We greatly enjoyed the Marriott; loved the open air lobby, the third floor seating area and pool, and enjoyed the sushi restaurant--I think that was the best meal of our trip, actually. We rode the Bus, which you can actually ride almost everywhere--we went downtown, to Chinatown (found a Buddhist temple!), then to Bishop Museum. The next day we went to North Shore and Diamond Head. We did rent a car and this was not as much fun as we expected. We got lost and spent much time retracing our tracks. When we finally got to the Pali Lookout, it all seemed worth it and my photography loving sons took many pictures. I liked the beach near the hotel and the park. In future years ( in a long, long time when I have grandchildren) I am sure I will enjoy the zoo and aquarium; they are perfectly sized for children. I was surprised by how much they appreciated the physical beauty of Kauai. They were very sensitive to this and expressed amazement at the waterfalls, the trees, the "differentness" of the environment. We live in an area that many find exotic when they visit. I loved all the little nearby sites you told me about because I get up early and exercise and then I could go for an adventure before my sons were awake. I went to Queen Emma's bath one day, to Kilauea lighthouse, and then to Anini beach. We enjoyed hiking, surfing, snorkeling and swimming. We made dinner most nights in the condo in that spacious kitchen, but went out on our last night to Postcards Cafe in Hanalei (we didn't feel like driving to Roy's). Bali Hai restaurant was closed for renovation. Joyce, I appreciated your help and will certainly think of you the next time I need travel assistance. I enjoy your personal touch! "Hi Joyce! IThank you for the nice gifts and the great trip planning! We had a really nice time at both the Hyatt and Hanelei Bay. Your tips were so helpful, and my husband is ready to return! He absolutely adored the North Shore so I'll contact you to plan his 50th b-day trip there(2 years). We loved the Napali Coast boat trip and dinner outside at the Princeville. We also loved the hiking at Waimea Canyon and the snorkeling at Kee Beach and Tunnels. The kids loved the Hyatt's pools and Queen Emma's bath in particular, and the service at the Hyatt was so wonderful. Low-key but so helpful. I gave the manager a glowing report on everything. Thanks so much for such a wonderful trip. Terese" - Terese, Colorado, 2009-02-03
"We recently returned from the wonderful HBR on Kauai's North shore, & must give some raves to the property and the unit we stayed in. First HBR is a lovely resort.Sprawling grounds, wonderful landscaping, knockout views, a great tropical pool, and a charming "old Hawaii" feel. I feel the old Hawaii feel is nice because many of the resorts we saw on Kauai could have been in Florida or Las Vegas, or Mexico. They may have been very nice, but there was nothing all that distinct, & some have too many floors IMO. Everything about the resort has a casual, tropical, & friendly feel. I have seen a lot of talk about the pool at HBR & all I can say is we loved it. One of a kind w/ more stunning views. Our Unit was 7105/7106 & it was lovely as well. the ground floor was perfect for our kids. The rooms were tastefully decorated, & the kitchen well equiped. The views from the lanai were just gorgeous, too. I can highly recommend both the HBR and this unit. Lastly, it was very interesting that one of the nights we went for happy hour at the Happy Talk lounge the singer asked if it was anybody's first time to HBR. We were the only one in the whole place who had not been there before. I totally understand why people come back year after year. We will too. " - Cathie, Colorado, 2009-02-03
"Thanks for your gifts of a candle, nuts and shells to remind us of our trip. Everything worked very well and all were very pleased with the reservations. Trips to the beach were a bit challenging for the very young and and very old. However, most went to other nearby public beaches. Anini was very popular for the families. Great trip. Thanks for putting it together. " - Donald, Washington, 2009-02-03
"Hi Joyce, We had an absolutely wonderful time! We actually went to the Big Island first then on to Hanalei. I took about a million pictures just from the balcony of #7302 at HBR. We snorkeled a total of 3 days at Tunnels/Haena beach - the weather was perfect and we did see lots of fish including a turtle! We watched the L.A. Lakers succumb to Boston Celtics at Deli/Cafe at the Old Hanalei School - Bob was for Boston - being a CA girl, I rooted for L.A. (they lost) - but the crab cakes were to die for! We had one breakfast out at the Polynesian Cafe - good Eggs Benedict, OK potatoes. We made most of our meals and really enjoyed the kitchen and the BBQ area - and of course the lanai! Everything was well appointed and comfortable. Well, except for one thing... I had gone jogging and Bob was on the lanai. Just when I got back and almost jumped in the shower, a maintenance worker put his ladder up to our 3rd floor lanai and hopped over to trim the shrub! Bob was flabbergasted! No calls, no warning, and I didn't know he was there - Bob ran over to me and caught me before I threw my clothes off to get in the shower! Bob did call the front desk about it - I don't think anyone ever apologized other than to tell him (Bob) that the maintenance workers aren't supposed to do that. A bit strange! A story to tell and embellish as time goes on! Other than that..... We never did swim at the resort - we were mostly at the beach or in Hanalei. The accommodations were very nice and quiet - and of course the view was beyond fantastic! We brought our iPod with all our soothing music - so it was great having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and listening to all our favorite music on the lanai with that view! We really went to Hanalei to "do nothing." Whenever we've been to Hawaii (including Kauai) we've spent most of our time touring the islands and engaging in activities. After touring the Big Island we wanted to spend a week exactly as we did at Hanalei. We rented a tandem Kayak on our last full day, Bob mostly paddled and I almost fell asleep. It was heaven! After paddling up the river "we" paddled to Hanalei Bay and spent 2 or 3 hours swimming and sunning on the beach. Last year it was very hot in early June, this year it was absolutely perfect weather the entire time. Bob loves the morning rains and I love the trade winds. That night we went to Sushi Blues - what an interesting experience - the food was great - the music was very good ("bluesy" acoustic guitar and singing) and the place was full of "characters." I don't know if there is always so much drama going on (mostly with the locals) but we sure got our money's worth in every way possible! We also had dinner at the Saffron Mediterranean just above the Princeville Resort - it was very good as well - more for a quieter crowd! There were two jazz guitar players playing very soothing music. Of course, we reluctantly left the pristine waters and delightfully clean air to return to a smoke-filled Butte County where it's too smokey to do anything outside. Sigh. We fully intend to return to Hanalei. Our youngest is graduating HS next June, so I'm not sure when we'll work it in. I'm hoping to talk my parents into going as well. Any chance that #7301 and #7302 will be available in fall of 2009? No plans - just asking...... Thanks for everything including your great write up of things to do - we kept it with us all week and were glad to have it. God bless, Karen " - Karen, California, 2009-02-03
"Dear Pat, Thank you for your assistance in arranging our incredible stay at the Hanalei Bay Resort. When we return to Kauai, this is the place to be. We much prefer it to our previous stay in Poipu. The Bali Hai restaurant is still closed. The Happy Talk Lounge had good food, drinks, and entertainment in the evenings. We also ate at a place called Saffron nearby. Food was good and service was average. We loved the unit 9105 for the first 3 days. The unit has been recently remodeled with nice tile floors and new appliances throughout. The lanai has spectacular views of Hanalei Bay and "Bali Hai." We got some fantastic rainbows the first few mornings. Thanks for the tip to get to Waimea Canyon early as the clouds did indeed roll in shortly after noon and obscure the valley. We also enjoyed the Limahuli Garden in Haena. Some of the views from there were also remarkable. Most of our snorkeling was done near the hotel. The trail down to Hideaways beach was a bit treacherous. I guess that keeps the crowds down. Maui had been our favorite but our stay at Hanalei has us reconsidering. Mahalo nui loa, Cindy & Jerry Haven " - Cindy, California, 2009-02-03
"I wanted to let you know that we were very happy with the condo. It is beautiful inside and out. The views were amazing. I have attached a document that has some photos from the Lanai. Can you let me know the availability in December? Also, can you email me photos of the inside of the condo as I have a friend that may be interested in renting it. Thanks mike " - Michael, San Diego, 2010-03-08
"Dear Joyce, We received your postcard and thanks for getting in touch. We just got home a few days ago and we are still trying to get used to the time difference! We wanted to write to you and tell you how pleased we were with your condo and the resort. Everything exceeded our expectations- everything. It was just perfect. We loved your condo- especially the view. When I first went out onto the lanai and saw the water and the mountains I gasped and tears ran down my cheeks. I'll email you a few cool photos we took from your lanai. Thanks again. We hope to return soon. Kindest Regards, April Jones " - April, California, 2009-02-03
"Hi Joyce, we had a great time on our trip and the vog did not affect us much until the last 2 days. The resort was wonderful and I really appreciate all of your help. Jeff Herr " - Jeff, Tennessee, 2009-02-03
"Hi Paula, I just wanted to let you know that we had a great time at Hanalei Bay Resort! In fact, we had an incredible time! The condo was perfect, the view was amazing, and people were always friendly and helpful. The wine was very nice, too. Thanks you so much for a wonderful time. "Some things you take for granted: a good bed and pillow. A working coffeemaker that doesn’t back up. A toaster that actually toasts bread. An icemaker that makes ice cubes quickly. A cooler to take along for side trips. You take them for granted until you having something just the opposite. Joyce’s condo, however, did not disappoint. We were in Unit 7106 for three weeks. For three weeks, you most certainly hope you enjoy and appreciate your surroundings! Out of all of the units at the Hanalei Bay Resort, this has to be one of the best. Why? The view of the ocean and Bali Hai. The vicinity to the bar-b-ques and second resort swimming pool. An easy walk down to the beach. Out of all of those nights, we ate out only once and that was by choice. The fish we purchased at the Hanalei Dolphin Fish Market was so incredibly fresh, who could resist cooking or bbq’ing your own plus saving some $$ for. . . ziplining at the Princeville Ranch! That was truly a highlight of the vacation. After not having been to Kauai since November of 1993, this was like a brand new island to us. We chose to stay up in Princeville after hearing that Poipu was becoming so overbuilt (which it unfortunately is). Though the Hanalei Bay Resort may be far north, it felt like nothing to us to drive into Hanalei or down south to Kapa’a. There were plenty of beaches within an easy drive and each had its own personality. At night, we were happy to stay “home” and watch DVDs that were in the condo and/or read to our heart’s delight. Joyce was extremely accommodating with our changing schedule and we greatly appreciated her flexibility. Thanks, Joyce, for making my husband’s first vacation-of-retirement something to be fondly remembered." - Laura D., Woodinville, WA, 2009-04-03
"Good Morning Joyce, I wanted say "Thank You" for letting us use your condo. My family had a great time. We would recommend your condo to anyone. Thank You so much. " - Jason, Temecula, 2010-03-08
"We are back in California and wanted to thank you very much for letting us stay in your Condo. I will be a reference for you and the resort anytime. The pool was spectacular, we had the place to ourselves and we really enjoyed the non-chlorine pool for our kids. To bad the restaurants were closed so we did not get to enjoy the pupus and sunset from the Happy Talk Lounge. It only rained heavy for two hours one day. We saw sea turtles, lobsters, fish, geckos, chickens, etc. Great time. Please let me know when ever your condo is available as we will make an effort to go again in June in 2 years. Aloha " - Chris, Pennsylvannia, 2010-03-08
"hanalei bay was awesome with a great first floor view and and close to pool and restaurant as well, especially enjoyed the local birds and breeze from the ocean... this condo rocks for a twosome, nice kitchen, bath, and living area.. love to return...thanx joyce " - Ben, California, 2010-03-08
"Hanalei Bay Resort was excellent, and again, we would not have had the nicest condo in the resort had it not been for working with you, Joyce. We felt blessed to be in such a nice unit, with a fantastic view. The only downside was the live outdoor music at the Princeville hotel -fine if it's hula, but lousy if it's poorly played light rock music. " - Robert, Davis, 2010-03-08
"Joyce - Everything was amazing. The condo was perfect. I loved Hanalei Bay Resort and your activity guide was key. It was a very relaxing vacation and I will absolutely use you again for my next trip. I have already recommended you to several of my friends. " - Gar, Texas, 2010-03-08
